Job Overview We are seeking 3 highly experienced and dynamic Strategic Programme Commercial Directors to join our team and lead the development and execution of the commercial strategy for our Strategic Programme. This pivotal role ensures alignment with Programme Delivery and the Procurement Category strategy, delivering a positive commercial outcome for Southern Water's AMP8 strategy. You will work closely with the Strategic Programme Leadership Team to identify optimal delivery routes and drive cost efficiencies while challenging commercial behaviours across the supply chain. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of capital projects, influence key commercial decisions, and manage high-level supplier relationships. The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing and mitigating risks while ensuring contracts are in place as soon as possible. Please note internally you will be known as Strategic Commercial Programme Lead Responsibilities will include: Commercial Strategy Development & Execution Lead the identification of cost efficiencies and work with stakeholders and the supply chain to plan and implement budget impacting initiatives. Collaborate with Cost Intelligence to ensure cost-effective solutions. Fitting SWS’s needs to the appropriate delivery route and challenging the supply chain and internal SWS stakeholders to achieve time and cost efficiencies vs budget. Guiding programme reprioritisation wherever necessary. Strategic Overview & Commercial Risk Management Oversee multiple portfolios to optimise commercial outcomes. Apportion risk, collaborating with internal stakeholders as well as the supply chain in creating optional terms and conditions. Ensuring efficient ways of working are reflected in contract obligations. Cost Efficiency & Programme Impact Acting as the commercial conscience to the business. The Strategic Programme Commercial Director will set, and guide, the strategic aims and means to achieve efficient delivery. Ensuring that the wider commercial and delivery teams are aligned to audit plans, timely final account strategies and management of any claims/disputes. About You You will have a degree or equivalent qualification in a construction discipline. RICS (or equivalent) qualification and membership. Comprehensive commercial and construction experience in large-scale infrastructure or civil engineering projects. Expertise in managing contracts using long term frameworks and large-scale contracts such as NEC4. Strong understanding of procurement regulations and legal principles related to contract law. Package This role will be full-time Monday to Friday 37 hours a week. Southern Water operates a hybrid approach to working between our Falmer office and home.
