The Farming teams have an established reputation as leaders in the local Farming community. They undertake the management of Farms and Rural Estates and offer a range of professional rural advice throughout the UK. Their technical excellence ensures an impressive client base, and they advise some of the most prestigious clients in the area.
The role as a Graduate Farming Consultant involves assisting the team in a wide range of farming matters, gaining knowledge and experience to develop a career in Farm Management Consultancy.
Responsibilities
Assisting the farming team with a variety of farm management activities including:
1. The management of contract farming agreements
2. Advising on farm business issues such as joint ventures, change of use, rent reviews, expansions, and succession planning
3. Financial monitoring and analysis including helping to prepare budgets and cashflow forecasts
4. Technical advice on mainstream arable and livestock enterprises
5. Advising on environmental issues and farm diversification
6. Providing commercial business advice to clients
7. Developing and maintaining a set of client contacts
8. Driving business development
9. Advising on compliance with current and upcoming government legislation and guidance
10. Providing advice and completing grant and subsidy applications on behalf of clients, including environmental land management and productivity grants
11. Assisting with the preparing internal and external reports
12. Maintaining and developing relevant personal and technical skills
13. Attending relevant conferences, seminars, and training sessions
Person Specification
The successful candidate is likely to be:
1. A great communicator, both written and oral
2. A team player, able to develop a close working relationship with colleagues
3. Commercially astute with good numeracy skills
4. Ambitious, energetic, self-motivated, curious, and happy to network with a business development oriented attitude
5. Interested in farming and food production systems
6. Experience of hands-on practical farming
7. An interest in Rural or heritage property
8. An interest in the environment and sustainability
Skills/Qualifications
1. University Degree
2. Excellent research and analytical skills
3. Excellent IT skills including use of MS Office
4. Practical Rural experience would be beneficial
