The Role:
Working for a reputable building company that specializes in full-service design & build construction and interior fit-out works, your role is to provide proactive and professional Safety, Health & Environmental support and to ensure the business is compliant with UK statutory provisions and industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
1. To take ownership of the Inspection schedule and resulting actions/observations with a view to ensuring on-time completion of inspections and timely resolution of all findings and actions.
2. To manage and support all health, safety and environmental compliance, ensuring that proactive and reactive monitoring is completed in accordance with the company's policies and contractual requirements.
3. Taking an active and visible role within the company, attending company and project safety meetings. Advising the Board members of any compliance concerns regarding safety, health, and environmental issues.
4. To ensure that accidents are reported and investigated in a timely manner - with direct involvement where required. To fully support any enquiry involving UK enforcing authorities.
5. To promote the company Near Miss programme, ensuring all staff use the programme and understand its reason for existence.
6. To report any instance of non-compliance with legislation, customer requirements, or policies and procedures. To advise on corrective and/or preventative actions as necessary.
7. To provide advice on HSE-related matters to staff and other stakeholders when required or when you see fit.
8. To support the HR Director and SHEQ Director in meeting the external certification requirements.
9. To deliver low-level safety, health, and environmental training.
10. Compilation of CDM specific safety, health, and environmental documentation for projects.
11. Ensure work is carried out in accordance with statutory requirements/industry best practices and procedures.
12. Comply with the Health and Safety Policy, procedures, and protocols at all times.
13. Manage and assist with the implementation of safety, health, and environmental targets and objectives set annually.
14. Ensure that all staff have received the required training prior to commencing works.
15. Ensure that staff and contractors are working in accordance with the safe system of works, agreed by the project review process.
16. Ensure that work activities are monitored for compliance and report any concerns.
17. Deliver site safety, health, and environmental training (manual handling/asbestos awareness etc).

1. IOSH Membership - registered safety professional
2. NEBOSH
3. CSCS Card (white/Academic)
4. Environmental training
5. IT Skills - Microsoft Office
6. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
7. Ability to interact effectively with internal staff and our clients at all levels
8. Demonstrate the ability to think and act quickly in emergencies or under pressure
9. Able to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team.
10. An understanding of the principles of equality and diversity in the workplace
