Job Description
This role needs an experienced Environmental Manager, with a broad environmental management background, to advise on groundwater working, environmental requirements, permit requirements, and liaise with the Environment Agency (EA) to interpret information for the project team. You will be responsible for instructing and reviewing technical documentation on behalf of teams responsible for environmental compliance and monitoring activities during the complex construction activities of the High Speed Two build programme.
You will provide advice and support to the construction team regarding environmental constraints and management issues in the HS2 Sub-Lots. Responsibilities include managing, challenging, and assuring construction EMR compliance, ensuring these are fully integrated into construction design, site works, and programme.
Experience Required
1. 5-10 years’ environmental experience on major construction projects
2. Significant experience with either a consulting engineer, main civil engineering contractor, or a specialist environmental contractor
3. Experience of environmental design and mitigation
4. Broad experience of all aspects of environmental design and works and impacts on 3rd Parties
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills
6. High standard of computer literacy
7. Confidence and experience to challenge designs prepared by others
Desirable Qualities/Experience
1. Qualified Environmental specialist or a related discipline; membership of a relevant professional body is advantageous
2. Holding a valid CSCS card to visit sites is desirable
