We are looking for a skilled Healthcare Assistant to become a part of our multi-site team. The HCA will be approachable and have excellent communication skills. We are searching for a dedicated, compassionate and energetic individual who is a team player. The practices can be busy therefore good time management is key to this role. Also a calm demeanour and the ability to work well under pressure are skills we are looking for.
An expectation to work weekdays and to work 4 - 6 Saturday mornings per year (with 1/2 day off in that week) is needed to assist the operating doctor (a weekday morning hours adjusted).
The purpose of the role is to assist the GPs and practice nurse team in the service and delivery of the care management of the practice population.
The Group consists of a main site and branches. Candidates must be willing to work at our Conisbrough site and others as and when required.
We are able to offer approx 12 hours plus further hours may be available to support colleague holidays etc.

* Assist in raising awareness of health and well-being, and how it can be promoted
* Give accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within own competence

Job responsibilities
It’s important that the candidate does have experience of phlebotomy, BP checks, and wound dressings as a minimum.
Experience of working in a GP surgery or Accident & Emergency is an additional bonus.
Training in more advanced areas could be provided.
Undertake new patient health checks, diabetic checks including blood testing, foot checks and health promotion referrals.
Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes.
Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately.
Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly.
Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required.
Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics.
Carry out BMI checks as directed.
Act as a chaperone as required.
When trained, administer flu vaccinations.
Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation.
Provide support during minor operations as required.
Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance.
Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy.
Able to carry out home visits few times a year as required for flu vaccinations/reviews etc.
Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate.
Carry out ECGs as requested.
Participate in practice IPC audit as directed by the Clinical IPC lead.
Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care.
Support and participate in shared learning within the practice.
Participate in Extended access service provision at the practice.
Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota.
We would be pleased also to consider candidates doing the Nurse associate training as a HCA and also support such candidates should they wish to progress to that level.

* Qualified in phlebotomy
* Qualified to NVQ level 3
Experience
* Experience in a Healthcare Assistant role in a primary care setting or A/E department
