If you are passionate about animal welfare and possess experience of handling a variety of animals, then we have an exciting opportunity for you.
As an Animal Care Technician, you will provide outstanding animal welfare support to the Animal Management curriculum team, on weekends and bank holidays. You will also provide annual leave cover for the weekday post holder. Our college animal collection includes mammals, invertebrates, and reptiles, so you will need to be confident in handling these species.
As well as supporting teaching staff, duties will include:
* Managing all aspects of the care and management of the College's animal collection, including cleaning, feeding and waste disposal.
* Conducting routine maintenance and repairs on animal exhibits and holding areas to ensure animal health, welfare, and the presentation of naturalistic environments.
* Observing animals, evaluating behaviour and monitoring feeding habits to determine physical and behavioural health and well-being
About you
You will possess practical experience of working with and caring for a variety of animals in commercial or educational environments, along with excellent animal management skills and the ability to handle a wide range of animals effectively. In addition to this, you will need good knowledge of Health & Safety and Animal Welfare legislation/procedures.
You will also need a full driving license and use of a car, in order to transport animals to and from the college. A flexible approach is essential, including a willingness to work weekends.
