LIPID MAPS is a free open resource providing access to the international community. This includes providing access to lipid nomenclature, databases, tools, protocols, standards, tutorials, and publications.
The candidate will support activities in either, or both of, web development and database development, depending on their preferences and skills. Work will be performed with the wider team to complete coding tasks in LIPID MAPS. Please see a full job description attached.
The role involves:
1. Relational database: build and populate a relationship database, including query layer and web front-end.
2. Web developer: working with the Laravel framework, HTML, PHP, SQL, and potentially Javascript, to fix web code bugs (GitHub issues) and migrate legacy HTML pages to Laravel.
3. Updating existing web pages and carrying out assigned tasks from the team.
4. The successful candidate will work alongside a team of staff and will be based in Cardiff, linking with team members in University of California San Diego and Babraham Institute, Cambridge.

Qualifications and Education
1. NVQ 3/A-Levels or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
1. Substantial experience of working in web development including HTML, PHP, SQL & GitHub.
2. Specialist knowledge of programming and web development.
3. Ability to follow processes and procedures, and make improvements as appropriate.
4. Experience of frontend web design and development.
