Who We're Looking For
We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Team Leader to join our Admissions team. You will have strong organisational skills, a collaborative approach to working, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Experience with databases, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to excellent customer service are essential. You should be comfortable working with regulations and compliance processes, maintaining confidentiality, and meeting deadlines. While direct Higher Education admissions experience is not essential, an understanding of the sector beyond being a student is preferred.
What You'd Be Doing
1. Leading the processing of undergraduate and postgraduate applications, making decisions and offers in line with university policies and legal requirements.
2. Overseeing compliance processes, including Disclosure and Barring checks, fee assessments, and UKVI requirements.
3. Managing interview processes, ensuring candidates have a positive experience and that outcomes are communicated efficiently.
4. Providing analysis and reports on application data, contributing to policy development and external reporting requirements.
5. Ensuring Admissions-related content (e.g. offer letters, prospectus information, UCAS listings) is accurate and up to date.
6. Line managing and supporting Admissions team members, fostering their development through regular feedback and goal-setting.
7. Collaborating with internal and external colleagues to improve processes and enhance the applicant experience.
A typical working day is 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with flexibility on start and end times. Some weekend and evening work will be required for Open Days and Confirmation events, and there may be restricted leave periods at key times of the year.
This role includes line management responsibility for two Admissions Coordinators and one Admissions Administrator.
You’ll Need To Enjoy
1. Working collaboratively: this role involves engaging with colleagues across the University and external stakeholders.
2. Being highly organised: you will manage multiple tasks and deadlines, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
3. Providing excellent customer service: you will deliver clear, professional, and supportive communication.
4. Maintaining confidentiality: handling sensitive data and working within compliance frameworks.
5. Working both independently and as part of a team.
6. Communicating with a wide range of people, internally and externally.
7. Upholding values: we care about how people work as well as what they achieve.
Where You'll Work
In this role, you'll be based in the Admissions team, on our green campus in the north of Plymouth. Within the Registry office, you will work closely with other Registry based teams. After successfully completing your probationary period, which will be completely campus-based, our current hybrid working policy means you can work from home or on campus, but you will be required to maintain strong campus links and be available on-site at least 3 days per week.
For an informal discussion about the role please contact Adam Winsor, Admissions Manager.
