Qualification - Must have HNC / HND or equivalent and extensive demonstrable experience in Highways Maintenance. Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you The Highways Planned Maintenance Team is responsible for the design, programming and delivery of the MCC’s planned maintenance of carriageways and footways. Typically, the annual budget is circa £14m with works spread over around 450 sites. The works comprise a mixture of reconstruction, resurfacing and preventative treatments and candidates for the available posts will need extensive and detailed knowledge of the materials, site works and techniques associated with all these processes. About the Candidate Reporting to the Team Leader, Engineers need extensive knowledge and experience of highway maintenance and are required who have the ability to carry out the following activities with minimum supervision: Leading in the identification and prioritisation of an annual highways maintenance carriageway and footway programme of work. Checking and validating Gaist roadscape intelligence to inform the initial draft list of schemes. Designing individual maintenance schemes including their proposed treatments, i.e. resurfacing, reconstruction or surface treatment (microasphalt / surface dressing) and producing estimated costs. Developing detailed delivery programmes and associated traffic management proposals and then working with contractors to ensure the successful delivery of the programmes on site. Checking works during construction, giving instructions to contractors and sign off of works and valuations upon completion. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, analytical and organisational skills. It is important that you can work confidently with financial data when making decisions.
