St John’s College School is seeking a professional and reliable Minibus Driver to join our dedicated team in one of the leading independent schools in Central Cambridge.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and comfort of our pupils during their journeys to school, as well as for extracurricular activities and trips.
Line Management
Reporting directly to the Facilities Manager, the School Minibus Driver will be responsible for the daily collection of pupils from several outlying villages. Working weekdays only for 34 weeks per year, the School Minibus Driver will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of our pupils to school.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collect the minibus and attendance register from the School’s site in Grange Road at 6:00am, and proceed to the pickup point(s) as designated by the Facilities Manager.
2. Ensure that all children who should be on the bus are present and accounted for by completing the register.
3. After visiting all pickup points, proceed to the School and ensure that the children are dropped off at the School in good time for the start of the School day.
4. Do not stop the minibus at any stops other than those which are on the published route or leave the pupils unattended on board.
5. Park the minibus in the designated area and carry out checks to ensure that there are no issues with the vehicle, recording this using the appropriate form or system as directed by the Facilities Manager.
6. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety protocols at all times.
Hours
You will work for 34 weeks of the year, during term time, plus an additional 15 hours outside of term to attend essential training and termly team meetings. Your normal working hours will be Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 9:00am (3 hours per day). The hours worked outside of term will be directed by the Facilities Manager and subject to the schedule for whole-staff training at the start of each term.
If you are required to attend training which exceeds the 15 hours included in your contract you will be remunerated for this. You may be asked to work extra hours for Sports fixtures and/or trips etc; this will be paid extra as agreed with the Facilities Manager.
Beyond the requirement to attend training and meetings as described above, you will not be required to work during the school holidays, unless otherwise instructed.
Salary
The full-time equivalent salary for 52 weeks, including holiday pay is £25,382 per annum. Based on working 15 hours per week for 34 weeks, an additional 15 hours outside of term time and holiday pay, this equates to 30.19% of full time and an actual Salary of £7,663 per annum.
Your Salary will be divided into 12 equal instalments and will be paid monthly by direct credit to a nominated bank account on the 28th day of each month (or the nearest prior working day), with the exception of December, when payment is made on 20th December (or the nearest prior working day).
The salary is reviewed annually and adjusted in September in line with salary awards to the School’s non-teaching staff. The next salary review will be in September 2025.

References will be taken up on short-listed candidates who will be invited to return for a second-round interview, including a tour of the school and the final interview itself which will include questions relating to safeguarding children.
