Team Lead – Warehouse

DSV are recruiting for a Team Lead - Weekend Cover (Friday to Monday)
This role will be responsible for the operation of a section within the Warehouse function.
1. Supporting the Management Team with the day-to-day operation of the warehouse, responsible for a group of operators and ensuring an efficient warehouse operation in achieving business targets.
2. Provide line management to the team, coordinating their workloads, providing support to ensure that the team delivers, monitoring any issues, and ensuring production targets, KPIs, and quality standards are met in order to meet the requirements of the customer.
3. Develop the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards, whilst fostering a culture of working safely.
Duties / Responsibilities
4. Assist in running an efficient warehouse operation which is able to fulfil operational and customer demand and meet set targets
5. Train new Warehouse operatives within area of responsibility
6. Ensure inventories in area of responsibility are accurate
7. Ensure stock movements are recorded accurately
8. Support organising and participate in stock takes at regular intervals
9. Ensure that any computerised or automated systems are accurate and up to date
10. Identify any systems improvements and make recommendations for change
11. Where possible resolve any issues or problems which occur in the warehouse.
12. Produce regular reports and statistics as and when required
13. Assist in planning future capacity requirements
14. Ensure that health and safety meets the required standards
15. Ensure that all lifting and manoeuvring of products and materials is carried out in accordance with manual handling procedures
16. Ensure that vehicles, machinery and equipment is well maintained and fit for purpose
17. Maintain high standards of security in the warehouse
18. Ensure a clean and tidy working environment to aid operational efficiency
19. The Team Leader will also be expected to act up for management to cover leave and absence.
People Management
20. Manage time and attendance for operatives within area of responsibility and support supervisor with people management issues
21. Communicate with staff on a regular basis to make them aware of priorities, targets and operational requirements
22. Report progress updates, key achievements and any concerns to the Warehouse Supervisor and/or Manager Relationship Management
23. Liaise with customers, suppliers and transport companies as and when required in a timely way
24. Comply with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policies
25. Engages interest and participation of others and has a collaborative approach to working with others
26. Proactively contributes to the team and actively committed to teams development
27. Shows moral courage, openness and honesty in all dealings
28. Take part in grievance and disciplinary hearings
29. Monitor performance and absence and carry out return to works and conduct welfare meetings.
Experience
30. Team Leader skills with the ability to motivate, develop and supervise others
31. Good communication and interpersonal skills
32. Good IT skills, in particular spreadsheets and databases and a knowledge of warehouse systems
33. Analytical and numerical
34. Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure / cost of poor quality
35. Good planning skills and able to meet targets and deadlines
36. Excellent attention to detail skills
Skills and Competencies
37. GCSEs Level A-C, NVQ Level 2,
38. An appropriate warehousing qualification would be advantageous
39. Certified in: Dangerous Goods Handling
40. A supervisory qualification would also be beneficial
41. Proven experience as a Warehouse Team Leader with experience of supervising and motivating a team
42. A good working knowledge of health and safety and security requirements
43. Knowledge and understanding of lean techniques may be advantageous
44. Fork Lift Truck licence may be required
