Our Team
The Natural Power Consenting & Environment team offers and performs a range of planning and environmental related services right the way through a renewable energy project’s life.
The geospatial team at Natural Power is a centralised resource within the Consenting & Environment department that provides GIS, statistical modelling, and data analysis capabilities across the whole company. Main Tasks and Responsibilities
This role involves conducting a range of data management and statistical analysis techniques on predominantly ecological datasets to generate robust outputs for use in assessments. You will be required to apply a range of industry standard modelling techniques using R and other software as applicable, as well as conducting more bespoke analysis that may be required on a project-specific basis. You will provide advice regarding statistically robust data collection and the accurate interpretation and appropriate presentation of modelling outputs.
General Responsibilities
* Application of industry-standard statistical analysis/modelling techniques to ecological and environmental datasets, as well as development of bespoke analysis methodology to address a range of requirements within the company.
* Work closely with project managers to plan the delivery of reports with ecological modelling content ensuring that any statistical analysis is appropriate for the project and the data available.
* Innovation through development of tools to increase efficiency of existing processes and contribution to development of new processes and services.
* Quality check work prepared by others to ensure all standards are met.
* Ensure raw data and any developed/updated code are stored in accordance with standard procedures.
* Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Person Profile
Area: Education & Qualifications
* Undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
* Masters and/or PhD in a relevant discipline
Area: Specialist Knowledge & Skills
* Excellent skills in the use of R or other scripting language for data manipulation and data analysis
* Strong statistical knowledge including an understanding of issues and data types of relevance to ecological datasets
* Able to work unsupervised, effectively prioritising concurrent tasks and working to deadlines
* Use of GIS, either using a scripting language or using GIS packages such as QGIS
* Able to identify opportunities for, and deliver on innovative solutions
* Ability to develop applications for interacting with data, for example, using RShiny
* Experience of publishing outputs relating to analysis using RMarkdown and/or Quarto
* Use of GIS, either using a scripting language or using GIS packages such as QGIS
* Strong background in working with a variety of different datasets
* Use of different data analysis techniques
* Experience in the renewable energy sector
