University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust
This is an exciting opportunity to join our enthusiastic and friendly team within the department of Geriatric Medicine at UHL. We are looking to build on our current team of 22 consultants, with a part-time consultant appointment working within orthogeriatrics and surgical liaison - improving the care for older people living with frailty within Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland (LLR). The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust consists of three acute teaching hospitals serving the population of Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland (LLR). Consultant Geriatricians also provide input into the 8 community hospitals within LLR, and the frailty virtual ward, both of which support step-up and step-down patients who need care closer to home. The Older persons wards (including orthogeriatrics) are based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. The successful applicant will work alongside medical and MDT colleagues on the ortho-geriatric wards at LRI - supported by specialty training registrars and resident doctors. This new role will develop the expansion of surgical liaison work within the Trust - initially working with older inpatients admitted under Urology with an opportunity to develop the perioperative pathways for frail older people within UHL.
