Southern Water is rolling out a software package for asset management. This role will be heavily involved in analysing data relating to this software, providing reports, making recommendations for improvements, and supporting users on the software.
Job Overview
The purpose of the Data and Reporting Specialist role is to work with Southern Water’s lines of business to help build analytics products enabling key stakeholders to self-serve critical insights, as well as working with stakeholders and outcome owners to use data and analytical methods to identify trends, anomalies, opportunities and answer other key questions relating to the performance of their business areas.
The Data and Reporting Specialist is expected to proactively play an analytical role when developing data products for the lines of business, and to develop an understanding of the Maximo and GIS data opportunities to drive improvements.
The Data and Reporting Specialist is expected to have skills in developing data products, including data visualisation in tools such as Qliksense, Power BI; data preparation and manipulation using Alteryx, SQL, R etc, and knowledge of statistical modelling and trend forecasting.
The Data and Reporting Specialist will need to have a collaborative approach to working with stakeholders, as well as be a good communicator verbally, written and in presentations. Good experience in using data storytelling to drive an impact is highly desirable.
Accountabilities
1. Developing data and analytics products for use in the line of business
2. Working with the rest of the OAM Project team to share and embed good practice
3. Working alongside key stakeholders to plan, prioritise and shape work
4. Provide data analysis and transformations to enable clean and efficient transfer into Maximo and provide ongoing data quality
5. Working alongside key stakeholders to identify continuous improvement opportunities through data and product analysis
6. Curious – interested in asking questions about what, how or why
7. Organised and capable of managing a single workstream and tasks
8. Passionate about the possibilities
9. Able to design and develop simple, end-to-end analytics products within frameworks
10. Able to understand business processes and IT processes
Knowledge
1. Experience in data and analytics technologies such as Qlik, Alteryx
2. Experience using Maximo, ESRI ArcGIS or similar products

This role will be full time Monday to Friday with a hybrid approach to working between our Durrington (Worthing) office and home. We operate a flexible working pattern and will also accept applications for those looking for reduced or part time hours.
