Responsibilities:
1. Advising clients on contentious probate matters, including disputes over will validity, inheritance claims, and estate administration issues.
2. Managing a caseload of contentious probate cases from inception to resolution.
3. Conducting legal research and analysis to assess the merits of clients' claims and defenses.
4. Drafting legal documents, including letters of claim, pleadings, witness statements, and settlement agreements.
5. Representing clients in mediation, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution processes.
6. Handling court proceedings in the County Court or High Court, including preparing for hearings and trials.
7. Providing strategic legal advice to clients to achieve favourable outcomes and protect their interests.
8. Collaborating with other legal professionals, such as barristers and experts, to strengthen case strategies.
9. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, beneficiaries, executors, and other parties involved in probate disputes.
10. Keeping abreast of changes in probate law and court procedures to ensure the delivery of accurate and effective legal services.
Requirements:
1. Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in private client law, with a focus on contentious probate.
2. Strong knowledge of probate law, inheritance disputes, and relevant legislation.
3. Proven track record of handling complex and high-value contentious probate cases.
4. Excellent litigation and negotiation skills, with the ability to advocate persuasively on behalf of clients.
5. Exceptional client management and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and attention to detail.
7. Commitment to delivering exceptional legal services and achieving successful outcomes for clients.
