Due to increased production, a well established food manufacturing company based in the West Midlands is looking to appoint an experienced Specifications Technologist.
The Role
To ensure that finished product specifications are completed including all legal, safety and customer specific detail as required.
To manage the finished product specifications within the business, including updates to ensure compliance with Company Quality Management Systems and customer requirements.
Qualifications or Experience required for this role
Educated to degree level in a Food related discipline or equivalent industry experience.
Min 2-year experience working for min 12 months in a specifications role.
Effectively manage own time and workload.
Have a good understanding of HACCP.
Experience of retailer specification portals and policies, (including those of ASDA, ALDI, Sainsburys & Lidl. This is essential for this role.
Responsibilities
1. Complete online and manual specification templates with recipe information, ingredients declaration, nutritional, allergen and all relevant safety and legal detail;
2. Work with Technical Managers, Product Developers, suppliers and all relevant stakeholders to deliver detailed specifications that capture all appropriate quality, sourcing, safety and legal information for our products and packaging;
3. To create, check, review and approve finished product specifications and pack copies in customer agreed format and policies;
4. To check, review & approve client artworks and labels including packaging as required;
5. Provide support to clients in the completion of accurate specifications & artwork projects through regular feedback and advice;
6. Organise pack copy review meetings with Product Developers and all relevant stakeholders to ensure artwork consistency meetings are completed in accordance with project timelines in the most cost-effective manner;
7. Review and maintain Customer Specifications Manuals of signed specifications;
8. Maintain and update the recipe management systems in accordance with specifications process.
9. Plan and prioritise workload to enable effective and accurate delivery of multiple projects.
10. Be prepared to take part in Technical Service Team routine tasks as required.
11. Become familiar with the workings of the factories to aid the accurate completion of finished product specifications.
