Job summary We are seeking to recruit a Assistant Head of Financial Accounting within our Corporate Finance Department working as part of the Financial Services & Accounting Team, based in Cwmbran. This role will be responsible for the Financial Accounting and Charitable Funds functions of the Health Board. The role haskey responsibilities in the completion of the Monthly Monitoring Returns to Welsh Government and the Statutory Annual Accounts for the Health Board The successful applicant will lead on the the completion of the Charitable Funds Annual Accounts ensuring financial reporting standards and charity commission guidance are interpreted and followed. The post holder will also be the lead for completing Freedom of Information requests received within the Finance department. We are seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic and numerate individual with excellent IT skills. You will be required to work as part of a team and on your own initiative and must be able to demonstrate effective communication skills. Detailed knowledge of Financial Accounting and NHS Charities rules are essential for this position. The successful applicant must be a qualified member of CCAB/CIMA and have relevant post qualification experience. Main duties of the job The post holder is a senior Finance professional within the Aneurin Bevan UHB. The post holder will be expected to: Be a member of the Finance Senior Team and is responsible for leading and delivering the Financial Accounting and Charitable Funds functions within the Health Board. Ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective service and will develop these functions to be best in class and deliver full assurance in our core financial system audit of these functions. Lead on developing standard operating procedures for the areas of responsibility ensuring compliance, with any system weaknesses being quickly addressed and resolved. Be the main point of contact for completing Freedom of Information requests received within the department. Lead in certain aspects of the completion of the monthly monitoring return information and statutory annual accounts ensuring that financial reporting standards are interpreted and fully met in order to ensure an unqualified audit opinion. Provide vision and leadership in the development and implementation of the overall finance agenda.
