The Person:
We are looking for a self-motivated, ambitious & reliable person with a design/development or engineering background ideally in the plastics processing sector to join our Technical team. The position is based at our Head Office in Lisburn.
The Role:
To prepare design drawings for plastic extrusions, injection mouldings, and fire door system components & assemblies including dies & tooling associated with their manufacture. The majority of the work is in 2D format but having 3D knowledge and experience is desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product & tooling design in 2D format
2. Close involvement in the tooling testing process to ensure tooling performance metrics are achieved
3. To ‘read’ and extract necessary information from 3D CAD files
4. Design of product & tooling upgrades & repairs
5. To assist the Technical Team with machine problem solving in engineering, manufacturing & maintenance
6. Maintain awareness of cost relevant to our materials & manufacturing methods
7. Maintain awareness of customer & internal project delivery timelines
8. Liaise with internal staff, external suppliers & customers to effectively communicate requirements
9. Maintain design project folders, R+D logs & ISO records
10. Support and deputise in the preparation of polymer 3D prints.
11. Prepare & communicate the necessary CAD files and supporting specifications
12. Assist the QHSE Team with product specification & associated gauge design
13. Resolve in-house and external toolmaking queries
14. Support and adopt best design & manufacturing practices with a continuous improvement focus.
Requirements:
1. A minimum of 4 years product or tooling design experience
2. A third level engineering or technical qualification desirable
3. Good communication skills
4. Ability to organise & prioritise personal workload
5. Flexible and adaptable approach, willing to travel occasionally as required
6. Full clean driving licence
7. Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, suppliers, and staff
8. I.T. proficient
