I'm looking for a Control Systems Engineer to join our client in Sudbury. This role will consist of being on the road (UK and overseas) from 30% - 50% of the time. In order to be considered, you must have experience in writing PLC programmes with either Siemens or Allen Bradley.
Responsibilities of this Control Systems Engineer role:
* Coordinate and execute equipment start-ups, technical service calls, and related activities (including reports).
* Design customer-specific control systems (both pneumatic and electric), including the creation of Bills of Materials and PLC programming. Typical I/O range: 6-13.
* Conduct equipment and application testing as part of project execution.
* Provide troubleshooting and technical support to both customers and in-house engineering/project teams.
* Support project execution by specifying parts and liaising with suppliers.
* Communicate with customers regarding their control system requirements.
* Prepare site visit reports and maintain up-to-date in-house databases.
* Contribute to proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
* Basic mechanical skills with a general interest in mechanical systems and problem-solving.
* Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (30%-50% of the time).
* Knowledge of electrical and pneumatic circuits.
* Familiarity with PLC programming (Siemens or Allen Bradley preferred, training provided).
* Ability to read AutoCAD drawings.
* Proficient computer skills (AutoCAD and Microsoft Office are advantageous).
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Technical know-how and ability to apply relevant codes to tasks and problem-solving.
* Ability to work independently, guided by knowledge of equipment, company policies, and procedures.
* Capable of initiating activity, managing multiple projects, and meeting targets.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with an energetic and positive personality.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet time-sensitive targets.
* Strong service orientation and actively seeks ways to assist customers and staff.
* Full, clean driving license
Experience & Education:
* HND / HNC in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent technical degree.
* Experience in designing control systems
* You must have experience in writing PLC programmes with either Siemens or Allen Bradley
* A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a technical role, ideally in machinery maintenance.
* Training will be provided to enhance your skills further.
