Job Summary
An excellent opportunity for experienced or newly qualified nurses to join the critical care nursing team here at Royal Papworth Hospital has arisen.
We are looking for dynamic, motivated, and compassionate registered nurses to join our highly specialist and internationally renowned multi-disciplinary team. Our 46 bedded Critical Care is one of the largest and busiest in the region, with state-of-the-art facilities, providing outstanding compassionate and holistic care to our patients.
As a tertiary referral centre, we look after some of the sickest patients who are referred to us for a variety of specialist services such as our ECMO (extra corporeal membrane oxygenation) service, heart and lung transplant, and PCI pathway. Working in this environment is challenging and rewarding in equal amounts.
To care for our patients, we need a highly skilled and innovative team, and we will support your development through every stage of your career with our dedicated Critical Care education team.
Our well-established programme for registered nurses will be tailored to you, combining theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for you to excel in your role. You will have access to expert clinical mentors and higher education programmes such as the Critical Care Course at degree or master's level, funded places at international conferences, Critical Care rotations, and careers coaching for progression in more specialist roles.

Person Specification
Qualifications
1. Registration with NMC
2. Diploma in Nursing
3. Qualification in relevant specialty
4. Degree in Nursing
5. Completion of Critical Care Step 1-3 competencies
6. Critical Care Course at degree or MSc level
7. Practice assessor course
Experience
1. Proven evidence-based clinical practice
2. Knowledge of NMC Code of Conduct and professional practice guidance
3. Good theoretical and practical knowledge of nursing within the clinical area
4. Knowledge of clinical governance and quality
5. Aware of cultural and social influences on health and of the importance of respecting diversity and differences
6. Able to perform nursing activities specific to specialty
7. Able to problem solve and use own initiative
8. Able to plan, organise and prioritise workload
9. Proven communication skills, written and oral
10. Able to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
11. Evidence of experience in Critical Care
12. Awareness of broader issues within the Trust and the wider NHS
13. Understanding of the professional nursing agenda
14. Able to assist Healthcare Support Workers
15. Able to induct/orientate new staff to the clinical area and identify key learning needs of less experienced staff
