Job Purpose Technical Architects will support the Head of Service in designing and implementing the ICT network and infrastructure in order to provide efficient and secure systems which effectively support the Authorities goals. Ensuring that all existing infrastructure is working at optimal levels and supports the development of new technologies and system requirements as required. They will analyse existing systems to ensure they offer adequate security and are effectively meeting the needs of the organisation and make recommendations of any alternative technologies or improvements which would enhance information systems to support Organisational goals. They lead the design and review process for new systems, develop and document the proposed technical design for the integration and implementation of any new hardware and software, working across IT Services. In addition, the post holder will be expected to make an important contribution to the development and implementation of service specific targets relating to the Business Plan at Service, Directorate and ultimately corporate level; promote efficiency and effectiveness throughout the service. The Enterprise Architect has the following service-specific responsibilities: Ensure that the EA applications, data and technology perspectives are in line with the EA technology and governance strategies, policies and standards. Ensuring that the overall Enterprise architecture is maintained in a coherent manner and that appropriate considerations are made for its security, quality and value. Ensure and review the quality of service delivered by Networks and Infrastructure to existing users, and business areas, as well as ensuring that the EA staff and customers are able to use EA systems reliably, safely and with confidence. The Enterprise Architect will lead the design and implementation of the following Technology Services: Systems Integration Architecture, Cloud System Integration, Availability and Performance management, Transformation, Consolidation and Optimisation, Security Implementation, SLA Management Reporting, and Data Centre management Essential Criteria Hold a bachelors degree (QCF Level 6) or an equivalent or higher qualification in an ICT Related subject and four years demonstrable experience of leading on technically complex ICT projects in a similar role; OR Have seven years demonstrable experience of leading technically complex ICT projects in a similar role. Demonstrate experience of leading or managing technical resources in a similar role. Extensive knowledge of Enterprise infrastructure and systems, including server hardware and software, storage systems, backup systems, networking, operating systems, enterprise software solutions, office back-end systems. Extensive knowledge of system configuration and deployment, security, data management systems, and the inter-dependence of all the above in a complex technical environment. Willingness to work outside normal office hours as and when required.
