What we are looking for: Minimum of 4 GCSE's (or equivalent) A-C/9-4, which must include Maths, English and Science (certificates will ideally be seen at interview) Self-motivation Dedication to patient care Good time management skills Main duties of the job Pharmacy technicians are increasingly playing an important role in supporting patients with their medicines, complementing and working with pharmacists and other members of the multi-disciplinary team in clinical environments. Across the 2-year apprenticeship, you will experience all areas of Pharmacy including taster placements across the local area, develop practical skills whilst learning on the job and continue to support patients throughout their hospital experience. The pharmacy technician profession includes a wide range of duties including: Dispensing and accuracy checking of prescribed items Providing medication related information to patients and other healthcare professionals Medicine Optimisation duties, including reconciling patients medication, POD checks, patient counselling and being part of the wider multi-disciplinary team Alongside this day to day work you will also get off the job training time to develop the additional skills required to be a pharmacy technician including: Understanding medicines regulations and law Increasing but not limited to clinical knowledge on the use of medicines and their mechanism of actions Principals of aseptic manufacture.
