Job Title : Cover Supervisor (Ad-hoc) Location : Nuneaton, Warwickshire, UK Job Type : Ad-hoc, Temporary Start Date : Immediate Job Description: We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a network of secondary schools in Nuneaton on an ad-hoc basis. As a cover supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising lessons in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring that students continue to make progress with their learning. Key Responsibilities: Supervise Pre-Planned Lessons : Deliver and manage lessons across various subjects, ensuring students stay on task and complete the work set by the absent teacher. Classroom Management : Maintain a positive and focused learning environment, managing student behavior effectively according to the school’s policies. Student Support : Provide assistance to students as they work through the tasks set, offering guidance where needed and ensuring that all students are engaged in their learning. Ensure Student Well-being : Monitor students during lessons to ensure their safety, adhering to the school's safeguarding policies at all times. Reporting and Feedback : Provide feedback on student behavior and progress to the relevant teacher or leadership team, reporting any concerns as necessary. Flexible Availability : Be available for ad-hoc shifts on short notice, covering a variety of subjects and age groups across different schools in Nuneaton. Requirements: Experience working with secondary school-aged students (ages 11-16) in an educational or supervisory capacity is desirable. Strong classroom management skills : Ability to maintain order and ensure students remain focused on their work. Good communication skills : Clear and confident communication with students and staff. Proactive and adaptable : Ability to work in different subjects and classrooms with a flexible and positive attitude. DBS Check : Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one). Organizational skills : Able to effectively manage the lesson and support students’ learning. Professionalism : Punctual, reliable, and respectful of school policies. Desirable Skills: Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, or in a similar educational role is a plus. Specialism or interest in certain subjects (e.g., English, Maths, Science) is advantageous but not essential.
