We are looking for an experienced medical secretary to join the busy Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Ipswich Hospital. You should have excellent communication skills, administrative and organisational skills, and be able to produce accurate audio typing and reports as well as responding to ad hoc queries and deadlines effectively.
If you are someone with an approachable, helpful, flexible attitude who enjoys working as part of a team, then this could be the role for you.
Please note, internal candidates will be offered a secondment position only.
Main duties of the job
* Audio typing of clinic letters using the digital dictation system and reports using Microsoft Word within agreed timescales.
* Responsible for the co-ordination of the administrative functions relating to the admission of patients into hospital.
* Add patients to the relevant in-patient and day-case waiting lists on the Patient Administration System.
* Management and validation of patients 18-week Referral to Treatment pathways.

Qualifications
* GCSE Level C and above in English and Maths
* AMSPAR Qualification
Experience
* Proven previous experience as a medical secretary or medical administrator
* NHS experience
* Experience of working with members of the public
Knowledge
* Confidentiality and Data Protection
* Knowledge of Lorenzo & Digital Dictation system
* Knowledge of the 18 week Referral to Treatment pathway.
