In this role, you'll offer tailored support to students with autism, PDA, OCD, ADHD, and other complex needs, empowering them to thrive in a structured and nurturing environment.
Position Details:
- Location: Near Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
- Hours: 09:00 - 16:00, Monday to Friday
- Salary: £86-£90/day (including 12.07% holiday pay)
- Contract: Temp to Perm
Your Role as a Learning Support Assistant:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play an integral part in supporting students to engage with the curriculum, develop essential life skills, and build confidence. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff, you will help implement tailored education and care plans, focusing on the SPELL framework.
Key Responsibilities as a Learning Support Assistant:
- Provide specialist support to students with autism and complex needs, enabling them to reach their full potential.
- Assist in the implementation of Personalised Learning Outcomes (PLOs), behaviour support profiles, risk assessments, and communication plans.
- Use non-confrontational, non-directive approaches to support students effectively.
- Adapt materials and resources to ensure all students can access the curriculum.
- Keep accurate records of student progress, contributing to individual assessments and reviews.
- Assist with personal care, therapy sessions, and daily routines as necessary.
- Supervise and engage students during breaks, educational visits, and extracurricular activities.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and parents, to provide holistic support.
- Assist with classroom organisation and preparation, ensuring a structured and engaging learning environment.
Skills & Requirements:
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting students with SEN.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively using non-confrontational and non-directive approaches.
- Understanding of child development, autism, and safeguarding principles.
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade A-C or equivalent).
- Ability to commute to Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
