We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Secured Portfolio Manager.
ROLE CONTEXT:
The environment of the role sits within WPB Risk UK Credit Risk Management function and activities are aligned with is strategies and objectives.
The jobholder will be required to interact with each of the Heads of Credit Risk Departments as appropriate. In performance of the role and to facilitate the progress and completion of Retail Credit initiatives, the jobholder will also need to interact/liaise with other team members and team within UK Business and GAC.
This role identifies key risks in the UK Risk portfolio and performs strategic review and challenge to ensure proper solutions are being deployed to manage risks appropriately, and monitor and analyse Key Risk Indicators
Retail Risk Analytics plays a key role in developing data driven, automated solutions and in the monitoring of current processes to support the CRM and operational teams in managing risk, at both transactional and portfolio levels and setting policy and procedures.
The jobholder is responsible for optimising the Analytics activities to develop best in class Credit Risk analytics service
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and develop Secured credit policy ensuring compliance with regulation and internal policy, driving good customer outcomes.
Prioritise planned projects and tasks, whilst effectively managing and challenging requests for unplanned or ad-hoc work.
Be accountable for the integrity and accuracy of delivered results.
Positively contribute to the vision and strategy of the department, working with the management group and being a role model for junior colleagues.
Develop and maintain a productive relationship with the offshore analytics team.
Takes a lead in briefings for team members/ stakeholders on progress of work, sharing knowledge, successes, and opportunities.
Communicates confidently with junior team members, stakeholders and peers
Identifies solutions to emerging risk issues, changing priorities, project completion issues and areas of conflict.
Challenges established policy and procedures, where appropriate and suggests alternatives.
Draws, formulates & communicates conclusions from own work, recommending further actions, where required.
Formulate and implement strategies, risk controls, and business cases to sustainably grow the portfolio within the Banks risk appetite and enhance revenue across the credit life cycle.
Manage and develop MI and reporting to deliver actionable insight.
Work closely with Global Risk Teams to ensure guidelines and procedures are followed and that best practice techniques are introduced where appropriate.
Responsible for provision of requirements for secured credit, property and climate policy changes. Managing from inception through to post change monitoring to ensure accuracy of change and ongoing maintenance of system controls and operational procedures.
Utilise industry insight using wider credit, property & climate data to enhance strategy and portfolio performance and produce industry benchmarking insights.
Provide SME support of Credit model developments and ensure adherence to requirements set out in the model risk framework.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience within portfolio management and credit strategy preferably covering both residential and buy to let lending as well as property and climate risk
Relevant experience of working in an analytical or strategy role within financial services or an alternative data-driven organisation.
Has an excellent knowledge of the credit life cycle
Good experience in credit risk policy, strategy, operations and related procedures.
Proven track record of delivering complex projects within a team, delivering results on time and on budget and managing own time effectively.
Regulatory and industry best practice.
Excellent knowledge in all aspects of retail banking, credit risk management including customer propositions, credit and finance in order to liaise effectively with stakeholders.
Good understanding of mortgage products and the key drivers behind profitability.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to positively influence stakeholders across geographies or business lines.
The individual should be self-motivated, customer focussed with an ability to solve complex problems with an eye for detail and accuracy, whilst still ensuring that the bigger picture is taken into consideration.
Good track record of understanding complex business requirements and making decisions considering potential long-term risks and implications.
Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to deal with multiple stake holders at any one time.
Proven ability to prioritize competing demands and will deliver challenging projects.
Experience in using relevant software packages, ie MS Office, Excel, Power Point, Word
