If so, join EDF as a Electrical Commissioning Technician The Opportunity At Hinkley Point C (HPC), we are constructing two new nuclear reactors, delivering low-carbon electricity to around six million homes. We are looking for Electrical Commissioning Technicians to join our growing team and play a key role in bringing the UK’s first new nuclear power station in a generation online. In this role, you will work within small teams to conduct a range of commissioning tests on electrical systems, ensuring adherence to both nuclear and conventional safety protocols. Success in this position will require strong teamwork, attention to detail, adherence to established test procedures, and the courage to challenge unsafe practices. What you’ll be doing In this role, you will collaborate closely with Commissioning Engineers to ensure tests are executed successfully and support Test Team Leaders in delivering commissioning tests according to the plan. You will engage in testing activities, working alongside other disciplines as required, as part of multidisciplinary teams. Reporting to the Senior Technician, you will ensure that all tasks are performed in strict adherence to site license requirements, statutory regulations, company and local directives, procedures, and safety standards. Who you are You’ll be a time-served trade apprentice with qualifications at NVQ Level 3, ONC, or equivalent experience in an Electrical Engineering discipline. With a background as an Electrical Technician in industrial environments such as FMCG, Marine, Utilities, or Power Generation/Distribution. Your knowledge will cover electrical distribution and control systems, including LV and/or HV switchgear, inverters, and UPS systems. Safety will be at the forefront of your approach, with a strong commitment to Zero Harm and adherence to best practices in a high-risk environment. You’ll be highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to manage your workload effectively while maintaining a proactive and solution-focused mindset. Strong communication skills will enable you to collaborate seamlessly within multidisciplinary teams and engage effectively with key stakeholders. Your positive attitude and ability to build strong working relationships will ensure you contribute to a dynamic and high-performance environment.
