Description PERMANENT CLASS 1 (CE) SHUNTER DRIVER The position of Shunter Driver is an integral role in our operations team and involves driving a Tug/Shunt Unit, checking equipment for suitability, shunting trailers and containers in and out of loading bays. The nature of this role is physically demanding and includes opening and closing trailer doors, connecting and disconnecting trailers and securing loads, so the ideal candidate should be physically fit and resilient in terms of manual working. Keeping in regular contact with the Warehouse and Transport teams is essential to provide updates on progress and managing our customers’ expectations, as is a ‘can-do’ attitude. You’ll be a key member of our team, working alongside colleagues from the warehouse and in-coming drivers. You must be confident and have good communication skills given the safety critical nature of the work that is undertaken. Permanent £31,481.23 per annum 4 on 4 off 40.25 hours per week 06:00 - 18:00 20 days annual leave How will you contribute? Securing load of the trailer to ensure products are safely secured to minimise chances of damage. Be aware of the vehicle defects and bring to the attention of Transport Office as necessary. Perform non-stop shunting of trailers within the yard to ensure efficient operations. Safely manoeuvre vehicles in tight and busy spaces. Conduct pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections to ensure safety and reliability. Adhere to all health and safety regulations and procedures. Coordinate with the security and warehouse dispatch teams to maintain seamless workflow. Report any defects or issues promptly to the transport team. Maintain accurate records of shunting activities and vehicle movements. Assist with other yard duties as needed. What will you bring?
