About the Role:
Dorchester Primary School is seeking a dedicated and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide support to a student with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a flexible, term-time role that will involve working Monday to Friday, with the opportunity to extend into the new year. We are looking for a candidate with strong SEN experience who is passionate about helping children thrive in an inclusive and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 support to a student with SEN, tailoring your approach to meet their individual learning needs.
* Assist the student in engaging with the curriculum and participating in class activities.
* Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCo to implement personalised learning plans and strategies.
* Monitor progress, provide feedback, and help adjust support strategies as necessary.
* Encourage positive behaviour and social development, promoting confidence and independence.
* Ensure the student’s safety and well-being, fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Key Requirements:
* Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
* Patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach to supporting students.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both students and colleagues.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Knowledge of SEN teaching strategies and relevant frameworks.
* Available to work Monday to Friday, with flexible hours based on availability.
Desirable Skills:
* Previous experience as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant or in a similar SEN support role.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN training).
* First Aid certification (or willingness to complete training).
