Band 5 MHST EMHP/CWP Practitioners work closely with young people and families, parents and carers, and staff in schools, contributing significantly to how people experience our services. Band 5 Practitioners are expected to be kind, responsive, professional, and informative, contributing to the quality of the services we provide by:

As a Band 5 Practitioner, you will work alongside more experienced mental health practitioners, other health professionals, and EMHP/CWP peers, delivering a service to schools.
As a team, you will work together to ensure that the team meets the standards which the people using our services deserve.
Main Duties of the Job
Applicants must be qualified Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP) or CYP Wellbeing Practitioners (CWP) or possess an equivalent qualification with experience in working with children and young people in mental health services or schools, providing individual and group treatments.
Brent Mental Health Support Team is looking for qualified EMHP, CWP, Wellbeing Practitioners with experience in working with children and young people in mental health services, delivering individual and group treatments in school settings. We seek to appoint enthusiastic and dynamic practitioners who are creative in their approach and passionate about improving health outcomes for children and young people.
You will work alongside EMHPs, Mental Health Practitioners, and Senior Clinical Leads to support the wellbeing and mental health of children and young people based in participating schools in Brent.
Brent MHST works with children and young people with mild to moderate mental health presentations attending schools in the area.

Job Responsibilities
To allow the post holder, with appropriate supervision, to work as an autonomous and responsible practitioner within the scope of their local job description, engaging in:
1. Delivering low-intensity evidence-based interventions for children and young people in educational settings with mild to moderate mental health problems.
2. Helping children and young people who present with more severe problems to rapidly access more specialist services.
3. Supporting and facilitating staff in educational settings to identify and manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing.
4. Working within educational environments to improve access to specialist mental health services.
5. Group/whole school approach implementation and consultation on referrals.
6. Using acquired skills, knowledge, and abilities to deliver a service based within educational settings that builds on and reinforces existing initiatives.
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* Qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner or CYP Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner or Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker with additional CBT qualification.
* Teaching qualification.
Previous Experience
* Experience of working with children and young people, their families, and others in a healthcare or school setting.
* Experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders.
* Experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional, and/or behavioral difficulties.
* Experience of working with anxiety disorders.
* Experience of working with affective disorders.
* Experience in delivering specific low-intensity therapeutic interventions to children, young people, or their families (e.g., CBT, solution-focused brief therapy).
* Ability to conduct other group therapeutic interventions with children and their families.
* Experience of working with children and their families in an educational setting.
* Experience in monitoring and recording outcome measures for children's emotional wellbeing.
* Experience navigating complex social systems and environments with conflicting priorities or agendas.
* Experience of working with looked-after children.
* Experience of working with other vulnerable groups.
Skills
* Able to maintain electronic patient records and use Microsoft Word.
Other
* Access to a car or other motor vehicle for work purposes.
