We are currently looking to recruit a Kitchen Porter to join the kitchen team at our family run, 4 star luxury hotel on St Marys, Isles of Scilly. St Marys is the largest of the 5 inhabited islands, 26 miles off the coast of Cornwall. The hotel consists of 38 rooms, some full of history within the original castle building itself and the remaining outside in the grounds with beautiful and unspoilt garden and sea views. The hotel has 2 award winning restaurants.

Contract: Seasonal (March-October)
Responsible To: Head chef
Hours: 40 hours per week. With additional end of season bonus and holiday entitlement.

Purpose of the role:
We are looking for a kitchen porter to join our kitchen team.
Job Summary:
The Kitchen Porter is responsible for the cleanliness and overall hygiene of the kitchen. The role will entail the washing of all dishes as well as all kitchen equipment, floors, store rooms, fridges and general deep cleaning. The Kitchen Porter will also assist with basic food preparation, and with moving food deliveries into the kitchen and store areas as directed.
Key Responsibilities:
The Kitchen Porter reports to all chefs within the kitchen environment. The role is made up of many varying responsibilities including:
* Basic food preparation;
* Washing up, cleaning and clearing all kitchen areas;
* Unloading and putting away deliveries;
* Emptying bins, sweeping and mopping floors;
* Ensuring all equipment is clean and put away correctly;
* Deep cleaning fridges and store rooms to maintain excellent food safety and hygiene standards;
* Cleaning of cutlery, crockery and other goods from the dining room;
* To work as a team with other kitchen staff and other departments;
* To ensure compliance with food hygiene standards, procedures and policies as directed by the chef team;
* To carry out any other duty as reasonably required, as directed by your line manager.
