The Role
As Head of Purchasing, you will take full ownership of the procurement function, ensuring cost-effective sourcing, supplier performance, stock availability, and team performance to support the business's ongoing success.
This is a key leadership role, working closely with senior management to develop and implement an efficient purchasing strategy.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute the company’s purchasing strategy to ensure cost efficiency and product availability.
* Manage supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, contracts, and service levels.
* Analyse market trends and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities.
* Work closely with internal teams (sales, operations, finance) to align purchasing decisions with business objectives.
* Ensure stock availability while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
* Lead and develop the purchasing team, driving performance and continuous improvement.
* Implement best practices in procurement processes and supplier management.
* Monitor and report on KPIs, including cost savings, stock turnover, and supplier compliance.

* Proven experience in a senior purchasing role within a fast-paced distribution environment.
* Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
* Ability to develop and implement cost-effective purchasing strategies.
* Experience in inventory management, stock control, and supply chain efficiency.
* Commercial awareness with a focus on cost reduction and value creation.
* Excellent leadership and team management skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
