To support its complex intelligence and military operations, the MoD has partnered with this Firm for over 50 years to empower critical thinking and drive value across its strategic initiatives and technology investments.
The Role: Support the MoD on an exciting Maritime Project, implementing DII (MD) and OpNET solutions on Royal Navy and Royal Auxiliary Vessels.
This position calls for a versatile engineer capable of building and configuring entire networks from scratch in maritime environments.
The main focus will be on establishing virtualized data centres using cutting-edge technologies like VMware and Microsoft, while seamlessly integrating hardware from CISCO, DELL, and APC.
Additionally, configure and test networks and peripherals to prepare the entire node system for successful deployment.
Essential Requirements: Security Clearance : Sole British National with SC or DV clearance.
Must possess an in-depth understanding of MoD IT systems, security policies, and enforcement.
Virtualized Data Centres & Technical Support : Extensive experience in building virtualized data centres, including the use of VMware ESX, vCenter, NSX, Horizon View, and the configuration of thin clients and peripherals.
Service & Incident Management : Proficiency with BMC Remedy for service and incident management.
Networking & Security : Expertise in network configuration (switches, routers, firewalls) with CCNA/CCNP certification preferred.
Ability to configure entire networks around ship environments.
Technical Skills : Proficient in Windows Server administration (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, certificates, PKI), Windows 10, Microsoft technologies (SQL, Exchange, Skype, SharePoint, WSUS), and experience with Linux-based VMware environments.
Tools & Scripting : Hands-on experience with tools like KeePass, SolarWinds, Veeam, Trend, and proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automating complex configurations.
System Engineering & Documentation : Background in systems/software engineering with experience across the solution lifecycle, including creating low-level engineering documentation and developing test scenarios.
User Provisioning & Data Migration : Exposure to bulk user provisioning, data migration, configuration management, and test and assurance principles.
