Job overview
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team on the Discharge Lounge at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. The successful candidate will need to be adaptable, use their own initiative and work well within a team. You must be computer literate and have excellent communication skills and customer service. The discharge lounge is a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with a diverse clientele on a day-to-day basis.
Main duties of the job
1. Collecting patients from a variety of departments on the day of discharge, meeting the hygiene needs of patients, supporting with nutrition and hydration, assisting with mobility.
2. There is a variety of IT and computer work involved within the role, for example, patient documentation, online booking of transport, information gathering from online patient records.
3. Other main duties include communication with families, care homes and community teams both verbally and electronically.
Person specification
QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
* English and Math GCSE grade 9-2 (A*-E) or equivalent or high level of literacy and numeracy skills demonstrated within application.
* Competence based level 2 Qualification e.g. NVQ or Diploma in Care or The Care Certificate issued by an employer.
* Willingness to undertake any training or development relevant to the role.
* Moving and Handling.
* Customer Care.
* Competent / able to evidence the completion of Health Care Assistant core competencies.
* Competence based level 3 Qualification e.g. NVQ or Diploma in Healthcare Support.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
* Previous employment with a healthcare setting (18 months).
* Insight into the roles of responsibilities of the post.
* Demonstrate a commitment to a caring profession.
* Understand the importance of record keeping.
* Literacy Skills.
* Experience of record keeping.
COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS (INCLUDING MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES)

The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £54.40, Standard £26.40 or Basic £26.40) from your salary when you commence in post (including Internal staff). You will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £16 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment.
