Delivery/Collection Driver
Salary: A£25,525.56 pa (Pending increase)
Location: Birmingham Service Centre B24 8TG
Hours: 8.00am-5.00pm Monday-Friday
Job Purpose:
To enable the Company to achieve the agreed contractual standard of service required by completing initial training in the workshop to gain essential product knowledge. On completion of initial training, this will enable you to work out in the field delivering and handing over equipment, making minor adjustments, and collecting equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Delivering and collecting wheelchairs to and from service user's homes and NHS departments, ensuring that the Company Infection Control Policy is followed.
2. Handing over equipment to the service user and making minor adjustments as directed.
3. Ensuring all paperwork relating to each job is read carefully and completed with all necessary information regarding parts used and actions taken written onto the job card.
4. Using any PPE supplied as instructed.
5. Observing all regulations covering the driving and use of the Company vehicle and being aware of employee responsibility under the Health & Safety at Work Act.
6. Keeping the vehicle tidy and ensuring stocks of all necessary parts are replenished each day.
7. Completing vehicle safety checks and the van check sheet each week.
8. Maintaining a professional customer service attitude and using discretion when dealing with all service users and other agencies.
9. Prioritising and organising your workload, referring to Line Manager as needed.
10. Being responsible for the maintenance and safe keeping of all tools and equipment provided by the Company.
11. Agreeing to undertake all necessary training to maintain the skills required for this role.
Qualifications:
1. Full UK driving licence
2. Successful enhanced DBS check
3. Able to move and handle loads and equipment safely
4. Experience of face-to-face customer contact
5. An awareness and understanding of people with disabilities
6. Flexible approach to working conditions
7. Ability to use own initiative within set boundaries of the role
8. Good written and verbal communication skills
9. Ability to relay clear instructions to clients
Physical Demands of the Job:
1. Moving and handling of equipment and accessories following handling guidelines
2. Kneeling/crouching
3. Use of ramps and any other agreed moving equipment
Most Challenging Part of the Role:
1. Flexible working/responsive to changing priorities set by Line Manager or Customer Service team
2. Committing to being available for short notice overtime if required
Confidentiality:
The employee will have access to confidential information, including service user information, which must be kept private and confidential.
Health and Safety:
The post holder is required to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others affected by their actions. They must cooperate with supervisory and managerial staff to ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
Prevention and Control of Infection:
The prevention and control of infection is integral to this role. Staff will comply with the Company infection control policy.
