The Asset Management Department is responsible for a growing fleet of renewable energy assets.
RES Advisory Services Team are part of our Global Asset Management Team. We provide consultancy services across all renewable technologies to meet our clients' requirements. We are looking for an experienced renewables consultant to build and manage this team.
The position of ‘Advisory Services Manager’ will be responsible for developing the Advisory Services team and leading on all client-facing Advisory Services activities across our global AM portfolio. The team is currently focused on Northern Europe. We wish to expand on this and deliver services in other regions where RES has a presence.
The focus of the Advisory team is to deliver Advisory Services to our existing AM clients and as an enabler by delivering Advisory Services to new clients who will require full AM support in future. The team may also introduce Advisory clients to other RES departments such as Development, Construction and O&M.
This role will report to the Director of Operations Support and Advisory Services and will also work closely with the Asset Managers, Business Development Managers, Operations Support Team, AM Finance Team and other departments within RES.
Key Accountabilities
As Advisory Services Team Manager you will:
* Undertake technical, project management, commercial and customer-facing activities.
* Promote Advisory Services to clients and ensure RES is maximising potential revenues from these workstreams, with a focus on key accounts.
* Increase and manage RES’ exposure to the target markets through client engagement, conference sessions and roundtable events.
* Manage regular communication with target clients and provide feedback to the business units to refine the product offering.
* Understand and interpret client needs, clearly communicating client goals to internal and external stakeholders.
* Be responsible for coordinating the end-to-end delivery of Advisory Services and one-off projects on behalf of clients including due diligence, owners engineering and general technical advisory.
* Manage P&L within Advisory Services Team.
* Ensure all Advisory Services activity is linked back to the client-specific Value Enhancement Plans – demonstrating the value of RES as AM.
* Support our growth and cost reduction targets.
Reporting
* Act as first point of contact within the Global Asset Management Team for all Advisory Service related issues.
* Prepare & deliver presentations and reports for internal stakeholders and clients.
Internal Engagement
* Coordinate resources within the Advisory Services Team where necessary and ensure that appropriate contracts are agreed with clients and time and cost are accounted for appropriately within the business.
* Ensure the quality of work meets clients' expectations and complies with RES’ Group Engineering and Technical quality procedures.
* Work with all internal stakeholders, and any sub-contractors. Ensure project deliverables stay on time, on target, and on budget.
* Liaise with other departments within RES to seek specialist support or deal with resourcing constraints, and also to avoid any conflicts including shared clients, Intellectual Property, supporting competitors.
* Agree and maintain a skills and approval matrix with relevant internal departments.
* Support the development of proposals to secure new work.
* Take responsibility for the financial performance of any projects managed.
* Mentor and support less experienced team members.
* Identify and communicate relevant technological developments or regulatory changes which may impact the business or provide new opportunities.
External Engagement
* Work with clients to identify their requirements and key points of contact.
* Develop and submit proposals to clients complying with RES Stage Gate Process.
* Attend client meetings and undertake site visits within the UK and globally.
* Attend conferences to promote RES Advisory services and the wider Asset Management Team.
What you will need
Knowledge
* Understanding of technical aspects of renewable energy infrastructure projects.
* Knowledge of wind turbine, battery energy storage systems and solar technology.
* Established network of contacts within the renewables industry.
* Understanding of commercial aspects of renewable energy infrastructure projects (including project finance).

Experience
* Previous demonstrable (at least 7 years) experience in performing owners engineering, due diligence, technical advisory and/or consultancy activities.
* Significant experience in the renewables industry in a technical consulting capacity.
* Experience managing a small team of remote consultants.
* Managing budgets and project costs.
* Contract specification review and preparation.
* Client-facing and business development experience in a consultancy role.
* Competent user of Microsoft Office365 products.
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent experience in an Engineering or relevant Business / Commercial discipline.
* Valid driving licence for use within UK.
