This is an amazing opportunity for a talented Semi Senior Accountant punching above their weight division with a view to becoming a Senior Accountant within 12 months of joining us. You must have a passion for external audits, as your main line of work and a forward-thinking attitude to excel in our excellent working environment.
The Job
1. Involvement in external audits undertaking planning, fieldwork and completion work in readiness for review;
2. Assisting the manager and partners in completion of audit file including drafting accounts, review of disclosures under FRS 102 requirements;
3. Drafting closing meeting agendas, attending closing meetings to discuss the audit and close of audit files;
4. Accounts and tax return preparation for limited companies, sole traders, charities and partnerships;
5. Compiling VAT Returns, payroll and other general accounting tasks;
6. Responsible for a portfolio of client deadlines across a range of sectors;
7. Produce CGT and IHT calculations;
8. Engage with clients in a friendly and professional manner;
9. Corresponding with HMRC enquiries, investigation and compliance checks;
10. Production of analysis and reports in preparation for client meetings;
11. Handle day-to-day enquiries and queries from clients;
12. Reviewing juniors' work.
Experience requirements:
1. Minimum of 4 years' experience in an accountancy practice environment of which 3 years must be solid external audit work;
2. Either Part-qualified ACCA/ACA or equivalent qualifications (audit paper must be completed) or an ACCA affiliate looking for audit practical experience to have your work experience signed off;
3. Sound knowledge of UK GAAP, accounting standards and tax regulations;
4. Experience in preparing financial statements and management accounts;
5. Experience in external audits;
6. Experience in a tax advisory role is preferable;
7. Experience in handling HMRC enquiries and compliance checks;
8. Experience with accountancy and audit software such as CaseWare, Iris, Xero, QuickBooks, Payroll Manager, BTC.
