Potensis Selection is pleased to partner with one of the UK’s leading Housebuilders who are looking to appoint an Development Engineer to join their high performing technical team based in Berkshire. The business has an excellent pipeline of new projects and is continuing to purchase new sites. The role will involve advising the business on potential engineering issues as part of their land acquisition strategy ensuring that potential risks are identified with solutions proposed. Once purchased, this role will focus on appointing and managing external engineering design teams, ensuring that their proposed solutions in relation to roads and drainage issues are appropriate. Key responsibilities: Assist in the preparation of detailed engineering designs including layouts, roads, drainage and foundations, in accordance to with the programme agreed by the Technical Director. Help to provide engineering design advice at a pre-acquisition and planning stage. Assist in the preparation of estimates at planning application stage and at issue of information to Building Department. Management of external consultants to ensure that engineering designs are in place with the agreed brief, accurate and produced on time. Where additional resource is required by the Design Department, help prepare planning layouts based upon the draft received by Head of Design, as agreed by Technical Director. Help provide technical information to in house build teams and subcontractors to ensure that designs can be implemented. Candidate Requirements: Have civil engineering design experience, preferably in relation to new build residential projects, specifically relating to Section 278, Section 104 and Section 38 works. The role would be suitable for someone currently involved in engineering design who is currently working for a residential developer or someone who is currently working for a engineering/multi-disciplinary consultancy who is looking to move client side.
