As part of The Mortgage Works (TMW) New Business team you’ll be responsible for completing a variety of tasks and taking ownership of mortgage applications. You’ll consider each application and supporting information of that application on its individual merits, evidencing logical thinking and assessing in line with our policy guidance to quickly and confidently to progress the application towards offer.

You will possess excellent organisational skills, working off your own initiative and prioritising your workload. You will have excellent understanding of The Mortgage Works mortgage application process and procedures as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You will be an individual who always demonstrates strong customer first behaviours and a will to support, nurture and encourage colleagues to perform at their best.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, Northampton, Bournemouth, Sheffield or Wakefield office. What you’ll be doing
You’ll need a strong focus on quality to ensure that the team provides our customers with first class service and help to develop the team members to be the best that they can be. You’ll be the point of referral for the most complex queries.
You will support your team leader and colleagues to create a high performing team that is focused on continuous improvement and will use your extensive underwriting and mortgage processing knowledge to make informed decisions to ensure the right solution is met first time. You may also be required to deputise and support the team in your leader’s absence along with liaising with senior leadership.
Key to the success of this role will be supporting the growth and development of the operational team members. This will be coordinating training needs, improving performance as required. Through it all, your goal will be delivering great customer service and maintaining the highest quality within Service Level Standards.
About you
As a minimum requirement you’ll:
* Existing TMW Underwriting Mandate required.
* Have TMW New Business mortgage processing knowledge, with a good experience of the Buy to Let mortgage market.
* Can demonstrate good workload management skills, showing adaptability, effective time management and ability to manage personal workload and working to deadlines.
* Can take ownership of cases when dealing with non-standard documentation and apply common sense lending while utilising accountable freedom when making a lending decision.
* Have experience providing constructive in-depth feedback on a one-to-one basis and group coaching/training sessions.
