Summary - Basic Function Of The Role We are seeking a skilled and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Cramlington, Northumberland on a permanent basis. In this role, you will be responsible for implementation of production processes and procedures, leading productivity improvements with project based activities, including new product introduction and manufacturing cell design to reduce waste, improve quality and safety, and reduce operating costs. Job Duties And Responsibilities Take a technical leadership role in identifying opportunities for insourcing of components to the machine shop and for VAVE cost down activities. Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning work flow, space requirements and equipment layout Work with Design Engineering to assure designs fit the best manufacturing processes. Request engineering changes to reduce costs, improve quality or decrease manufacturing times Work closely with the Production team and CI team to continuously improve and standardize current processes, develops and implements improved processes and incorporates into designs Customer non-conformance technical analysis and root cause diagnosis support for Quality Manager Champion BoM and product routing data integrity. Assist with shop floor layout, jigs, fixtures and cell designs to improve manufacturing and assembly efficiency and quality. Generate and maintain production documentation such as assembly instructions Reduce variability in manufacturing by providing standard work methods and work instructions. Ensure product and process quality meets specifications required Investigates and troubleshoots process problems as they occur and takes necessary corrective actions Design new systems and processes and provide facilities & methods to ensure the cost effective integration of new products or for the improvement of existing ones into manufacturing operations Identify equipment needs and further investigates and assist with preparation of capital equipment justifications Skills And Competencies Highly analytical with strong data collection and analysis skills to drive decision making. Be an effective team member, working with supervisor and colleagues to ensure smooth workflow with maximum output Assertive, resilient and welcomes change Good communication and interpersonal skills Education And Experience Engineering degree is required, with a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering preferred Experience of 5 years minimum in manufacturing/machining processes Significant hands on experience in a workshop environment Experience of process improvement within a Lean environment would be a plus.
