Purpose
Established in 1986, City in the Community is the registered charity of Manchester City and exists to empower healthier lives through football. Our programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.
The purpose of this role is to deliver a high-quality BTEC programme in collaboration with our partner colleges, acting as a role model and mentor to participants. It focuses on enhancing students' academic, personal, and physical development while supporting recruitment through engagement with schools, local football teams, and community events. The integration of a competitive football element elevates the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, creating a well-rounded educational experience.
Accountabilities
1. Take ownership of planning and delivering high-quality practical football and sport sessions within the BTEC programme, ensuring excellence in delivery and adherence to programme standards.
2. Collaborate with the BTEC Officer and Lead Coach to facilitate CITC’s matchday programme, including coordinating and supporting out-of-hours fixtures to ensure smooth and successful delivery.
3. Take accountability for progress, KPI reporting, and outcomes of the BTEC project, fostering and strengthening partnerships with colleges.
4. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all learners, to closely monitor attendance, punctuality, and behavior at training sessions and match fixtures.
5. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with teaching staff and education providers to develop an innovative and exciting curriculum.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
1. Minimum Level 2 Coaching Certificate in Football with a view to work towards Level 3 (UEFA B)
2. GCSEs in English, Maths, and Science
3. Clean Driving Licence with 2 years driving experience
4. Good understanding of coaching within BTEC programmes
5. Experience of planning and delivering high-quality coaching sessions which are challenging and inclusive to the needs of the group.
6. Solid experience of working in and liaising with schools, colleges, and educational stakeholders
7. Experience in organising and delivering out-of-hours events, such as recruitment fairs or community engagement activities.
8. Experience and knowledge of working within a brand environment and understanding the responsibilities that are associated with representing a Premier League Football Club
9. Experience of managing a competitive sports team
10. Competent across Microsoft Office
11. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
12. Creative and passionate about continuous improvement
13. Resilient and adaptable to change
14. Excellent and inclusive team-working abilities
15. Educated to degree level in a relevant area e.g. Sports Coaching/Sports Science
16. Experience of working in a competitive sporting environment
17. Coaching qualifications in other relevant sports
18. Understanding of City in the Community Foundation and its projects
19. Mentoring qualification or proven experience of mentoring students
20. Experience of building relationships with external organisations and maintaining internal partnerships.
21. Excellent communication and motivation skills
22. Experience of strong behaviour management.
23. D1 Driving Licence and or Mini-bus driving experience or qualification
