Consultant Physician in Respiratory & General Medicine
NHS Lanarkshire - University Hospital Monklands
University Hospital Monklands (UHM) is looking for a Consultant Physician in Respiratory and General Medicine to join its existing team of Consultants and wider multi-disciplinary team.
The Respiratory team at UHM provides a range of specialist services including clinics for COPD, Asthma, Lung Cancer, Pleural Disease and Interstitial Lung Disease. Medical Thorascocpy, Bronchoscopy and EBUS are carried out in the hospital’s well-supported Day Surgery Unit and Endoscopy Suite. The Department also has a well-established Respiratory Investigation Centre.
Applications are invited from enthusiastic individuals who are keen to contribute to the ongoing development of Respiratory services at UHM. Sub-specialty clinical interests would be welcomed and supported.
The job is offered as a full-time post on a 10 PA basis (including up to 2 non-DCC) but applications will be considered from those wishing to work less than full-time. If full-time, up to 2 EPA’s may be available to undertake additional clinical activity.
It is an exciting time to join UHM with the location of our new hospital now identified. This will be Scotland’s first digital hospital which, through the use of available technologies, will enhance the patient journey and staff experience. Clinical staff are actively encouraged to contribute to the development of the clinical models to support the planning of this new hospital.
The University of Glasgow enjoys close links with NHS Lanarkshire, and our medical students benefit greatly from the excellent educational opportunities provided by the board in both primary and secondary care. Those who are or who will be involved in teaching our students, or in any other activity which involves a contribution to teaching, research or scholarship within the University are eligible for honorary status at the University of Glasgow.
Honorary Status Role Holders are entitled to numerous benefits including a University of Glasgow ID card, use of the Library and other facilities, and a University IT account as required for their role. They have access to all courses run by the IT Services on the same basis as members of staff and are also permitted an educational discount when PC equipment is purchased through the IT Services.
Informal enquiries regarding this post will be welcomed by Dr M Devers, Chief of Medical Services, Dr F Farquhar, Clinical Director or Dr Stuart Baird, Clinical Lead for Respiratory.
