Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant - Supporting a Child with Physical Disabilities

Start Date: 04.11.2024
Salary: £12.90 - £13.50 per hour (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, temporary with the possibility of a permanent role
Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a fantastic school that requires a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a child with physical disabilities. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in a child’s learning and development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide tailored support to a child with physical disabilities, ensuring their full participation in lessons and school activities
* Assist with physical needs, including personal care, mobility, and the use of specialised equipment
* Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to implement personalised learning plans
* Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
* Monitor and report on the child’s progress, adapting support strategies as necessary
* Encourage independence and confidence in the child’s daily school life
* Assist with academic tasks and activities, adapting materials where necessary to ensure accessibility
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Have experience working with children who have physical disabilities (experience in an SEN setting is desirable)
* Be patient, caring, and empathetic, with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
* Be proactive in supporting the child’s development, both academically and socially
* Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, parents, and external agencies
* Hold a valid DBS check on the update service, or be willing to apply for one
Qualifications and Experience:
* Experience working with children with physical disabilities or in a similar role is highly desirable
* Any relevant qualifications such as a Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3), Moving and Handling Training, or experience with medical needs support is advantageous

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
