We are looking for a Marketing & Publicity Assistant to join our award-winning and expanding Academic & Professional books Division. You will be working in a pivotal support role on marketing and publicity across our range of academic books, from textbooks and trade crossover titles to monographs and reference works. With a number of initiatives to support diversity recently launched, such as our Widening Representation Programme and the Bloomsbury Academic Writing Fellowship, it’s an exciting time to be joining the Division. Our brands include The Arden Shakespeare, British Film Institute, Methuen Drama, T&T Clark and 33 1/3, and our authors include Carol J. Adams, Mary Beard, Bertolt Brecht, Greg Doran, Martin Heidegger, Mary Midgley, Arthur Miller, Rachel Reeves, Nawal El Saadawi and Slavoj Žižek. This role reports in to a Senior Marketing Manager in the Academic Marketing team.
The role
Departmental (A&P):
1. Daily assistance to 6 senior marketers and 1 senior publicist on tasks ranging from, but not limited to, leaflet creation, discount code generation, responding to media requests and arranging press copies to be sent out to journalists
2. Ad hoc support for the wider Academic marketing team as requested
3. Assistance with organisation of monthly sales/marketing meetings
4. Maintenance of office supplies; organisation of marketing storerooms and book returns
Assistance to the team includes (* indicates support is less frequent/ad hoc):
5. Day-to-day production of marketing and publicity materials, such as marketing flyers, press releases and posters
6. Deployment of marketing and publicity emails, to a brief
7. Updating the Bloomsbury website when required*
8. Producing sales materials as required, such as stocklists, promotional materials and press updates*
9. Assisting with review lists and arranging gratis copies as required
10. Assisting with monthly review of AIs/marketing copy
11. Assisting with production and online distribution of quarterly, biannual and annual catalogues for the Division, including the Key Titles catalogue
12. Updates and contribution to blog and social media accounts as requested
13. Producing reports on request*
14. Book launch/event administration e.g. bookings, arranging couriers and iZettles, packing materials, recording sales post-event*
Knowledge, skills and experience
Essential:
15. Passionate about marketing and its role in academic publishing
16. Excellent organisational and time management skills
17. Outstanding attention to detail
18. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
19. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
20. A can-do attitude and enthusiasm for supporting team members
Desirable:
21. Relevant experience in publishing and/or marketing, ideally within an academic or professional environment (can include work experience or a specific qualification)
22. Experience of working in an office environment
23. Experience working with administrative systems and/or databases
24. Knowledge of ESP and/or CMS software
25. Knowledge of software in the Adobe Creative Cloud

The role is a full-time permanent position.
Salary Pay Point: £27,000 per annum
The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid-working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred). Allocated office days for this role are Wednesdays and Thursdays .
This position is eligible for Bloomsbury’s Rental Deposit Loan Scheme. To assist candidates who want to start and to establish a career in publishing, Bloomsbury offers an interest-free rental deposit to support securing somewhere to live. The rental deposit loan can be up to £3,000 and will be paid back over 2 years.
