The role As an Electrical Fitter, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. With your technical skills and safe working attitude, you'll work on some of the most exciting engineering projects this country has to offer. Day-to-day, you’ll work within all business unit areas at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth, this could see you working on Warships, Submarines or within our Factories supporting delivery of these complex engineering projects. Working to engineering drawings and technical specifications, you’ll also overhaul existing and install new equipment, you could also be carrying out system and equipment functional tests and surveys. You will read engineering drawings, to interpret work instructions. You’ll work on a wide variety of electrical systems and equipment from distribution, command, and control systems, such as weapons, navigation, and communications. The position is full-time, comprising 35 hours per week, with hours from Monday to Thursday, 07:30 to 15:30, and Friday, 07:30 to 12:30. It's located at Devonport Royal Dockyard. Optional overtime and shift work available depending on assigned work sections. Essential Experience Of The Electrical Fitter You will have one of the following: Time served apprentice within the field of marine electrical engineering / naval engineering environment Indentured Apprenticeship in an Electrical discipline Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in an Electrical discipline Level 3 Electrical Engineering qualification Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
