Business & Community Development Manager

The Director of Business Development & Community Engagement will drive the strategic growth of NDCT by expanding partnerships with local North Somerset community groups, increasing revenue, and strengthening community relationships. They will play a key role in securing funding, enhancing service reach, and ensuring NDCT remains a vital resource for those who rely on its transport services. Acting as the main link between the Management Committee and operational staff, they will oversee day-to-day operations while championing business growth and community engagement.
Location: Hybrid working, salary pro rata of circa £40,000.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Growth & Revenue Generation:
o Develop and implement strategies to expand NDCT’s reach, securing new sponsors and increasing service users.
o Identify new funding opportunities, including grants, corporate sponsorships, and service contracts.
o Oversee and take responsibility for Service Level Agreements with Town & Parish Councils.
o Increase revenue by forming strategic partnerships with local authorities, businesses, and community organisations.
2. Community Engagement & Stakeholder Relations:
o Build and maintain strong relationships with Statutory Services, Town & Parish Councils, health & wellbeing agencies, and voluntary organisations.
o Act as the public face of NDCT, promoting its services through social media, press releases, events, and online/in-person presentations.
o Lead efforts to improve communications and public awareness of NDCT’s impact and better understand local need and gaps in provision.
o Support trustee recruitment and engagement.
o Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring service efficiency and sustainability.
o Line manage the Operational Manager, ensuring smooth coordination between strategy and service delivery.
o Monitor financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
o Review and revise operational policies.
o Report monthly to the Management Committee, providing insights on business performance and strategic direction.
3. Bid Writing & Funding Management:
o Lead on grant applications and bid writing to secure long-term funding.
o Ensure timely and accurate reporting to funders, demonstrating impact and financial accountability.
Person Specification:
* Proven experience in business development, revenue generation, or fundraising within the charity, transport, or community sector.
* Strong track record of building and maintaining partnerships with key stakeholders within the local North Somerset Community.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
* Financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
* Leadership experience, including team management and strategic oversight.
* Experience in bid writing and securing grants or sponsorships.
