Job Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding career in the logistics and freight forwarding industry? Look no further! We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Road Sales team in Glasgow. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work with some of the best in the business and begin your career in sales.
Your Role
Our Road Logistics team at Kuehne+Nagel provides hundreds of customers with services to move their goods across Europe. The sales team works directly to source, engage, and maintain our customer base, ensuring that shipments are booked efficiently and delivered on time. We work with a diverse customer base – you could find yourself shipping Canoes to Croatia or Shoes to Slovakia. Every day is different! This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your sales skills, expand your professional network, and contribute to the company’s growth strategy. You will receive comprehensive training and support to excel in a fast-paced and rewarding sales environment. This is not just another job; it’s an exciting opportunity to be part of something big and make a real difference. If you are ready to take your career to the next level and work with some of the best in the business, we want to hear from you!
Your Responsibilities
Our 24-month Apprenticeship programme is designed to provide you with the perfect blend of practical on-the-job training and study towards the Business Admin SVQ (with sales modules). You will work within a successful Sales team while learning everything you need to know to be a top sales performer, supported by your peers, managers, and the apprenticeship team within Kuehne+Nagel.
In the first part of your apprenticeship, you will focus on delivering excellent customer service, and in the second part, you will build on this foundation to develop specialist Sales skills – you may even be given your own Customer Service or Sales Account to manage! Successful apprentices may secure a full-time sales position, along with bonuses and pay rises connected to the apprenticeship program.
Over two years, you will learn how to:
* Efficiently process bookings from clients and overseas agents into our system.
* Provide operational support for Sales Managers when required.
* Liaise with all relevant parties throughout shipments to organise the movement of goods, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
* Deal with issues during shipments and update clients and Sales Managers accordingly.
* Process sales and purchase invoices of the branch.
* Collaborate with colleagues and participate in meetings and training sessions.
* Make sales calls, engage, and onboard new customers.
* Analyse sales performance statistics and prepare/deliver customer review meetings.
Your Skills and Experiences
* The minimum entry requirement is five GCSEs at grades 3–9 / A*-D, including Maths & English, or equivalent.
* Passion for providing excellent customer service, strong work ethic, effective communication skills, good planning and organisation skills, and the ability to multitask and be a self-starter.
* Previous experience with Microsoft Outlook and Excel is beneficial.
* Candidates must have been resident in the EEA for at least the last 3 years; this vacancy does not meet the minimum requirements for visa sponsorship or apprenticeship funding.
* This is an entry-level training position. Qualified or experienced candidates in this area are encouraged to apply for other vacancies on our website.
