About the Department
Strategic Planning & Transformation (SP&T) are at the heart of all University activity: supporting University leadership through good governance; identifying opportunities and challenges through data and insights; and delivering transformation through our project office. Working in this department, you will have direct impact on how we help schools and departments move forward to meet key operational changes.
Sat within SP&T, the Governance and Legal team is responsible for ensuring the University meets its legal, governance and regulatory responsibilities. The team supports the University’s corporate governance framework, the provision of insurance and legal services, student casework management, and secretariat services to support the institution in achieving its mission and objectives.
About the Role
Are you an organised individual who can adapt and prioritise deadlines? Do you have experience with drafting agendas, preparing meeting packs, minute taking and report writing? Are you able to learn, interpret and clearly communicate procedural and regulatory information to others? Do you have a high level of diplomacy and experience of working with senior leaders? Are you comfortable using a range of different IT packages, such as Microsoft Office applications? If so, we want to hear from you.
The Governance and Legal team are seeking to recruit an experienced Governance and Secretariat Officer with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong understanding of corporate governance.
The post holder will be responsible for providing professional support to the University’s corporate governance framework, ensuring governance documents are kept current, and supporting Council and its sub-committees. You will plan meeting agendas, prepare and manage the circulation of papers, prepare briefs for Committee Chairs, and take minutes of meetings.
This is a role that is required to work closely with external Council members and the Executive leadership team to ensure that our most senior decision-making meetings operate to a high standard, fulfil their statutory and regulatory duties and deliver on the Council’s ambitions for efficient processes.
This is a great opportunity for someone to join and grow with a small, close-knit team to provide high quality services to stakeholders across the university. Knowledge of working in the sector is desirable; however, full training will be provided.
