Job summary This is an exciting time to join the medical Same Day Emergency Care, (SDEC), team at Darlington Memorial Hospital as we continue to improve the service and experience for patients requiring emergency care. We are seeking to appoint a Ward Clerk tojoin our team in this vital administrative role, you will act as a first point of contact to service users and assist the clinical team in the administrative aspects of their daily duties. You must be able to work effectively as part of a team and be able to use your own initiative when required. You will be expected to have excellent communication skills both written and verbal, acting as a first point of contact to service users and clinicians accessing the department. Main duties of the job Provide administrative support to the clinical team, inputting service user details into the IT systems in a timely manner to ensure patient safety is maintained. Liasing with support services to ensure required investigations are performed and then communicating appointments with service users and the clinical team. To respond to internal and external telephone calls in a manner that is friendly and appropriate. To act as receptionist for service users, providing sign posting, support and guidance regarding their patient journey. Communicate effectively with patient, service users, their loved ones and clinicians accessing services. Ability to communicate via a number of mediums, (i.e telephone, email, etc). Provide general administration support to the unit, including photocopying, data entry and circulation. Preparation of clinical records prior to them being scanned onto the central system. Arranging out patient follow up for patients as per clinicians requests.
