The role
You will be the interface between the CAS, Design, Visualisation & Project teams to ensure complete understanding of engineering inputs to the design studio while effectively managing CAD data inputs from Concept and Engineering teams. This role will require you to be able to negotiate and influence, on behalf of design, to ensure product vision is met and design attributes are recognised through Concept and Design phases of the Design Process. Part release surface data to engineering teams for production, through each stage of the surface release process, continuing the effective data management and revisioning of parts.
Duties/Responsibilities
* Effectively manage engineering inputs to the design studio and rejecting inputs as appropriate with good reasoning
* Manage CAD structure in Design and Engineering databases to enable ad-hoc reviews as required
* Responsible for creating, structuring and maintaining surface release part numbers and structuring them in PLM database
* Review inputs into Design with designers and CAS team to ensure understanding of each item.
* Track active issues through feasibility meetings to find swift resolution to ensure design tasks can continue at pace
* Maintain weekly status reports which identify where issues require escalation for resolution against gateways
* Maintain close working relationships with Concept & Design Engineering teams and Attribute Owners to ensure understanding engineering standards and requirements
* Ensure teams understand Design intent and attributes to enable a transparent working relationship.
* Generate creative alternatives where necessary to meet the design intent which challenge assumptions
* Ensure design themes adhere to legal and functional target requirements, project assumptions and internal standards.

* A passion for the motor-industry and the future developments to come in the products we produce
* A proactive team player who supports team members and is happy to be hands-on problem solving and building cross-functional relationships
* Broad understanding of Design studio and Concept engineering processes
* Able to work collaboratively in a challenging environment to resolve issues in a constructive manner
* Demonstrates the ability to think creatively to solve feasibility issues in 3-Dimensions
* Customer First mindset, resilient and enthusiastic about the product being delivered
* Minimum requirement – Mechanical Engineering BEng degree or equivalent
* Project Management / Project Engineering experience
* 3D CAD Software – Creo, CATIA or similar
